Carol Ruddy, Program Manager, Zoning and Intensification, Planning, Development and Building Services Department, delivered a slide deck presentation on the Draft 2 of the New Zoning By-law. 

The Advisory Committee heard from one public delegation:

  • Christine Comtois spoke to accessible design within the Right-of-Way. 

Carol Ruddy, Program Manager, Zoning and Intensification, Planning, Development and Building Services Department, Connie Gleason, Manager, Business and Technical Support Services, Development and Building Services Department, and Alex Gatien, Planner II, Development and Building Services Department were available to answer questions. 

Members of the Advisory Committee raised the following matters:

  • Accessible parking design (space)
  • Education and training 
  • Universal building code  
  • Patios and seasonal gardens in relation to accessible infrastructure
  • Accessible parking spaces within communal lots
  • Accessibility considerations within densifying areas  

The Advisory Committee received the presentation and carried the recommendation. 

  • Recommendation

    That the Accessibility Advisory Committee receive the presentation and provide feedback as appropriate.

    Received

Chair Karam presented the Accessibility Advisory Committee's duties under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, to review site plans, and solicited members interested in forming a Working Group. Chair Karam advised that the committee coordinator would follow-up with members to solicit interest. 

Members raised the following issues:

  • workload and expectations of site plan reviews 
  • timelines for review
  • equitable division of work

The Advisory Committee received the update.
