  • Report recommendations

    That the Transportation Committee recommend that Council:

    1. Receive the results of the 2022 season for the shared Electric Kick Scooter Pilot Program, as outlined in this report;
    2. Approve the continuation of Ottawa’s shared Electric Kick Scooter Pilot Program in 2023 with the proposed changes and recommendations in this report;
    3. Approve the use of a Follow-On Contract to award the 2023 season to the two successful proponents of the competitive process used for the 2022 season;
    4. Approve the proposed changes to the fee structure of Ottawa’s Shared Micromobility Framework as outlined in this report;
    5. Delegate authority to the General Manager of Planning, Real Estate and Economic Development Department to approve changes to the fleet sizes, as outlined in this report;
    6. Delegate authority to the General Manager of the Planning, Real Estate and Economic Development Department to approve the continuation of the shared Electric Kick Scooter Pilot for the 2024 season using the Follow-On Contract and to revise the fee structure, as required, should the General Manager be satisfied with the 2023 results.

  • Report recommendations

    That Transportation Committee recommend Council:

    1. Approve the Right of Way Patio By-law as described in the report and in the form in Document 1.
    2. Approve the Urban Design Guidelines for Commercial Patios attached to this report as Document 2.
    3. Delegate authority to the Manager, Right of Way, Heritage and Urban Design for a period of 3 years, in consultation with the Director of Traffic Services, together with the Director of Roads and Parking Services, to:
      1. Authorize the closure of segments of any City of Ottawa road as a temporary measure;
      2. Limit this delegation of authority to only be exercised where there is written request from the Business Improvement Area for the given geographic area, or in the circumstance where a Business Improvement Area does not exist, 2/3 of the business owners on each block segment approve of the road closure as provided in writing to the Manager and the Directors listed above;
      3. All costs associated with a road closure are responsibility of the requester.

  • WHEREAS Woodroffe Avenue between Richmond Road and Carling Avenue has two public schools in its immediate vicinity with Woodroffe Avenue Public School facing Woodroffe Avenue and

    WHEREAS many students to both Woodroffe Avenue public school and Our Lady of Fatima walk to school and must cross over Woodroffe Avenue, and

    WHEREAS Woodroffe Avenue will soon be receiving an automated speed camera to ticket vehicles going over the speed limit and

    WHEREAS the school hour speed limit on this stretch of road was 40 kph during school hours but went back to 50 kph when school was not in session and these flashing school hour speed limit signs will be removed and

    WHEREAS Woodroffe Park is also a community destination for residents in Woodpark and Woodroffe North communities who must cross Woodroffe Avenue to get there and

    WHEREAS the speed limit on Woodroffe Avenue from SJAM Parkway to Richmond Road is 30 kph along with the speed limits in the adjacent Carlingwood community west of Woodroffe and the Woodpark community east of Woodroffe and both sides of the Woodroffe North community;

    THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT Transportation Committee recommend Council approve that the speed limit on Woodroffe Avenue between Richmond Road and Carling Avenue be reduced to 40 kph permanently to put community safety ahead of motor vehicles.
