Mr. H. Sayah, Executive Director, explained that in accordance with Section 36 of the Community Safety and Policing Act and the Ottawa Police Service Board Procedure By-law, the Board is required to elect a Chair and Vice Chair at its first meeting each year. Accordingly, he requested nominations for the position of Chair.
Member Polowin moved that Member Fakirani be nominated to the position of Chair of the Ottawa Police Service Board. Member Henschel seconded the nomination. The Executive Director called for any additional nominations. There being none, the following motion was considered:

That nominations for the position of Chair of the Ottawa Police Service Board be closed and that the Ottawa Police Service Board appoint S. Fakirani as Chair of the Board for 2026.

Chair Fakirani then called for nominations for the position of Vice Chair.
Member Desroches moved that Member Carr be nominated to the position of Vice Chair, and Member Donaldson seconded the nomination. There being no other nominations, the following motion was considered:

That nominations for the position of Vice Chair of the Ottawa Police Service Board be closed and that the Ottawa Police Service Board appoint M. Carr as Vice Chair of the Board for 2026.
