held in Toronto on 20 – 21 September, 2018.

Responding
to a question about what could have been done differently to help the young
boy back in 2011, Supt. J. Dunlop explained that officers did everything they
could at the time. CAS and other practictioners were already engaged with the
family in 2011.
As part of policy changes, all calls of this nature are
now automatically referred to the CAS.

FINANCIAL
STATUS REPORT: 2ND QUARTER 2018

|
The
report indicates a $3.2 million dollar deficit for 2018. This includes the impact
of $0.7 million for the 10 additional officers hired to combat gun violence
as approved by the PSB and City Council. The $0.7 million will show as a
deficit to the OPS tax rate, which City Council will refund at the end of the
year.
The City is responsible for acquiring Red Light Cameras,
not the OPS. The OPS is in support of using technology to make our roads
safer.

was suggested that the next Public Survey not be conducted during the summer
while many people are away on holidays. The timing should be revisited for
the next survey in order to achieve increased engagement.
