The following City staff presented an overview of the report recommendations and answered questions from the Committee.  A copy of the slide presentation is filed with the Office of the City Clerk.

Dominique Gautier (Roland Berger) and Nicholas Truchon (Rideau Transit Group) were also in attendance and answered questions.

John Redins spoke before the Committee and provided comments on the report.

TSD staff undertook to provide an update on the activities of the Systems Integration Verifier (new position for Stage 2).

Following discussions, the Committee considered the following recommendations and motion.

  • Report Recommendations

    1. That the Light Rail Sub-Committee receive the Ottawa Light Rail Transit Public Inquiry’s final report and recommendations, attached as Document 1 to this report, for information; and 
    2. That the Light Rail Sub-Committee recommend that Council approve the City’s Action Plan to respond to the recommendations of the Public Inquiry that lie within the City’s jurisdiction.

    WHEREAS the City of Ottawa has drafted its response to the recommendations in the OLRT Public Inquiry Report; and

    WHEREAS the recommendations included in the OLRT Public Inquiry Report are directed at the City of Ottawa, including its partners in the Government of Canada, the Government of Ontario, and Rideau Transit Group; and

    WHEREAS ongoing cooperation and collaboration with all stakeholders is fundamental to the implementation of the recommendations listed in the OLRT Public Inquiry Report;

    THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Committee recommend Council direct the Office of the City Clerk to notify the following entities and bodies of the City of Ottawa’s Action Plan, and share with them the report: 1) the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, 2) Transport Canada, 3) Infrastructure Canada, 4) the National Capital Commission, 5) the Government of Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation, and 6) the Rideau Transit Group.
