Renewal of Federal Funding
Chair El-Chantiry referenced the recent renewal by the
Federal Government of funding in the amount of $2 million per year over five
years. He thanked staff for their efforts in compiling the necessary information
to make the request, and also thanked Mayor Watson for his support with the
application.
Arrest in Homicide of Connor Stevenson
Member Tierney wanted to thank Constable H. Cooper and Staff
Sergeant B. Hampson for their great work after the tragic death of Connor
Stevenson. Following the incident, a meeting was held for residents of the
buildings and the two officers did a great job handling the emotions and
concerns of those in attendance and gave their commitment to return at a future
date.
Chief Bordeleau explained it is protocol for officers to visit
the community after such tragic incidents in order to recognize the emotional
impact it has on residents, to help people and answer any questions they may
have.

NATIONAL CAPITAL
AREA CRIME STOPPERS : SEMI-ANNUAL UPDATE
Presentation from R. McMullen, President, National
Capital Area Crime Stoppers
Mr. McMullen acknowledged the good work that Crime
Stoppers has accomplished and noted how fortunate they are to have such hard working
staff and volunteers. He introduced those that were in attendance: OPS
secondment Sgt. S. Wong, Ms. J. Danschinko, Acting Assistant Coordinator, Mr.
W. Bissett, Past Chair, Lee Underwood, as well as numerous volunteers. He
recognized Mr. J. Wiles, Assistant Coordinator, who is retiring, for his long
tenure and commitment to Crime Stoppers.
In his presentation (a copy of the presentation is on file
with the Board’s Executive Director), Mr. McMullen covered the following
topics:

On behalf of the Board, Chair El-Chantiry thanked Mr.
McMullen, his Board members and volunteers for all they do on behalf of our
City.

Chair Durrell thanked Mr. McMullen for his passion and belief in Crime Stoppers
and noted how it transmits to the volunteers and the community at large, and speaks
to their many successes.
On
behalf of the police service, Chief Bordeleau added that Crime Stoppers is
making a difference in the community and helping to make residents feel safer.

Chief’s report

appointments of Kyle Gallinger, Alicia Poole and Richard Sabourin as Special
Constables pursuant to Section 53 of the Police Services Act, in
accordance with the terms and conditions set forth in the attached Approval of
Appointment form.

support the nomination of Board Member L.A. Smallwood to serve on the board of
directors of the Canadian Association of Police Governance for the 2015 - 2017
term.

Executive Director’s report
That the Ottawa Police
Services Board approve a $1,000 sponsorship contribution to the Ontario
Association of Police Services Boards’ 2015 Annual Conference being held in
Toronto, Ontario on May 27 - 30, 2015.
